MUKAH: Battling a blaze that happened near the Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) here proved to be a tough task as authorities worked hard for about eight hours to extinguish a bushfire yesterday (Aug 14).

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Mukah station were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 11.15 am.

On arrival, the team found that approximately four hectares of land were engulfed in fire.

The firefighters had to resort to the ‘total flooding’ technique with a fire hydrant serving as the main water source.

In addition, the team also created a fire break to prevent the flames from spreading.

The relentless battle against the fire went on until 7 pm. No injuries or casualties were reported.

Also present at the scene were the police and Civil Defence Force (APM).
