Malaysian Immigration Department delegation visits Curtin University

MIRI: The Malaysian Immigration Department, Sarawak, led by director Abdul Halim Abang Naili, paid a courtesy visit to Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) recently.

The delegation was warmly received by Minister for Transport, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, chair of Curtin Malaysia’s management committee, alongside pro vice-chancellor, president, and chief executive Professor Simon Leunig, chief operating officer Sharon Chong, and other members of Curtin Malaysia’s management.

Accompanying Abdul Halim were assistant director Yusdi Morshidi, Development head Mohamad Jamjuma Jaya, head of Miri Division Immigration Department Abang Mat Noor Abang Abdul Samat; assistant head of Miri Division Immigration Department Mohamad Sopian Abdul Nasip; Visa, Pass & Permit Unit officer-in-charge, Miri Office Dennis Linggie; Miri Expatriate Services Division (ESD) officer Andika Tukiran; ESD supervisor Azmee Amin; and Student Pass Unit supervisor Yusdi Sarimi.

The visit primarily focused on crucial discussions regarding student visa matters, reaffirming the commitment to ensuring a smooth experience for international students.

In interactive sessions, the Curtin Malaysia representatives and the delegation explored avenues to streamline visa processes, aiming to enhance the overall experience for students pursuing education at the institution, known as Curtin University’s largest global campus and hub in Asean.

Curtin Malaysia emphasised the collaborative effort between educational institutions and immigration authorities, highlighting its dedication to fostering positive relationships and providing students with necessary support and resources.

Furthermore, the delegation enjoyed an informative tour of the Curtin Malaysia campus, where they witnessed the state-of-the-art facilities and conducive learning environment available to students.
