MIRI: Various items used for business operations from eight premises, which were found being placed at parking spaces and public areas were seized by Miri City Council (MCC) enforcement unit during a three-hour operation last Tuesday for breaching the local council cleanliness bylaw.

MCC, in a statement, said the operation was carried out at three areas, namely Pelita Commercial Centre, Marina and Luak areas.

Among items seized were plastic chairs, aluminium tables, cooking equipment and refrigerators.

The operation was carried out by the council enforcement unit and assisted by the police.

Prior to the operation, warnings were issued and compound actions taken, but most of the owners of the premises did not give their cooperation. This operation will continue from time to time.

The Council also reminded all business premises owners not to abuse parking spaces and public areas to ensure Miri city is clean, safe and orderly.
