Sarawak entrepreneurs explore opportunities with Brunei counterparts

KUCHING: Local commerce and industry chamber delegations are exploring opportunities for collaboration between Sarawak and Brunei.

Representatives from the Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) and Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) recently paid a courtesy call on the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.

The delegation comprised KCGCCI secretary-general Datuk Jonathan Chai Voon Tok, who is also the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) secretary-general, MCCCI president and ACCCIS vice-president Ling Chiong Sing, as well as digital economy and working chairman for the 133rd anniversary celebration of KCGCCI, Rodger Chan Siong Boh.

During the visit, the delegation met with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Bandar Seri Begawan (CCC BSB) president Lim Tiong Han, and his committee members.

Chai provided a brief introduction on ACCCIS and KCGCCI, and the discussion turned to the existing links between the governments and businesses of Brunei and Sarawak.

The delegation also highlighted potential areas of collaboration between the two regions. After that, a welcoming dinner was hosted by Lim.

In addition, Lim also received an invitation to attend the upcoming 133rd anniversary dinner of KCGCCI and the 77th annual general meeting of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (ACCCIM) events to be held in Kuching on July 7 and 8.
