KUCHING: Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) has taken the spotlight as the exclusive Seed Grant Contributor for the inaugural Association Impact Masterclass by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

ICCA CEO Senthil Gopinath said Sarawak’s involvement in the programme sets a benchmark, portraying the state as a region of excellence in developing legacy impact.

“Sarawak’s collaboration with ICCA on the upcoming Association Impact Masterclass is a testament to their leadership and vision in making a meaningful difference for individuals and communities.

“Their dedication and achievements in leaving a lasting and positive imprint serve as an inspiration for others,” he said in a statement today.

The Association Impact Masterclass, a collaboration between ICCA, GainingEdge and Meet4Impact, aims to elevate business events standards inclusively.

It caters to individuals at all levels, fostering the development of world-class professionals.

The programme aligns with ICCA’s renowned certification, ICCASkills in empowering the industry to seize opportunities in business events through professional training.

Deputy State Secretary and deputy chairman of BESarawak Datuk Hii Chang Kee said the Sarawak government  envisions the state to be the ‘Legacy Capital’ of business events in Malaysia and Borneo.

“We see the importance of business events and its legacy in materialising our 10-year policy, the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030),” he said.

Meanwhile, BESarawak CEO Amelia Roziman said that being the exclusive contributor will help Sarawak in its strategic positioning as a business hub.

“However, what is important is growing the human capital with highly qualified legacy impact association members.

“ICCA has been supporting our efforts to change the narrative of business events for the past six years. Our long-term collaboration is with associations which are vital stakeholders with a pivotal role in developing our key economic sectors in PCDS 2030,” she added.
