Two snatch theft cases reported in one day

KUCHING: A school teacher was made RM3,100 poorer after falling victim to a snatch thief last Saturday night.

The incident took place at around 10.00pm while the 46-year-old woman and her husband were leaving an eatery at Jalan Song to retrieve their vehicle at a nearby parking lot when a man on a motorcycle approached her from behind and pulled her handbag away.

The victim went to a police station to lodge a report. She reported that she lost RM500 in cash, a mobile phone, RM1,000 worth of vouchers, ATM cards and her personal documents.

Meanwhile in a similar incident, a housewife lost RM1,000 in cash and her personal documents to two snatch thieves last Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at Jalan Astana at around 11.30am while the 65-year-old victim from Jalan Sultan Tengah was riding pillion on her husband’s motorcycle.

While stopping at a roundabout, two men riding a motorcycle stopped beside the victim and the pillion rider pulled her handbag away before fleeing the scene.

She went to a police station to lodge a report.

Police were investigating both cases.
