MIRI: Two miscreants reportedly rode against the flow of traffic as they tried to evade arrests in separate incidents here on today.

The first incident occurred near Saberkas flyover at 2.05am while the second happened about 40 minutes later.

The suspect in the first incident managed to escape, but the second suspect was apprehended by a patrolling team from the residents’ committee (RC) and handed over to the National Anti-Drug Agency (Miri branch) for further investigation.

Committee chairman Malateh Mahmud said the first offender was spotted stealing electricity cables around Boulevard commercial centre, but upon realising the presence of the RC patrolling team, the suspect fled off on a bicycle.

“He fled the scene, riding against the traffic flow, and upon reaching an area in Pujut Corner, he left the bicycle and ran into a nearby jungle, leaving behind a gunny sack filled with jackfruits,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the second incident, a 26-year-old motorcyclist was detained after he purposely revved up his bike and rode against the flow of traffic.
